With over thirty years of experience in schools, from the admission office to secondary school placement counseling and the classroom, I bring an extraordinary amount of experience to my work with each and every family.
Life is about learning--in the classroom, on the playground, on a hike in the desert, or reading the latest bestseller. Wherever that discovery occurs, whatever form it takes, I consider myself a lifelong learner on a daily quest to take in and understand more. Perhaps it is no surprise, then, that my professional life has focused on education.
My career began teaching high school history in a public school in Illinois. Since then, I have worked primarily in independent schools in the west, briefly in Idaho and now in California for over twenty years.
Presidio Hill School, a K-8 co-ed school, brought me to San Francisco from Ketchum, Idaho. There, I helped found the middle school Humanities program and taught grades 7 and 8. As the 8th grade Humanities teacher, I organically found myself supporting the admission director with high school placement and then helped build the high school placement program at PHS.
During my final decade in San Francisco, I worked at Katherine Delmar Burke School, a K-8 girls school. While I wore many hats at Burke’s, my work centered on high school placement counseling. It was a deeply rewarding experience, guiding the girls and their families through the high school admission process, supporting them in finding right-fit day schools as well as boarding schools throughout North America.
Most recently, I had the distinct honor of serving as Director of Admission & Enrollment at Cate School in Carpinteria, California, a co-educational boarding school serving grades 9-12. My time at Cate was also incredibly fulfilling, as I met students and families from all over the world and worked with an exceptional school community that was highly invested in the admission process.
After so many years working in schools, I am honored to continue to work closely with families and shepherd them through the admission process, this time as an educational consultant.
